Dublin based Celtic fan, Chris Carney of Erin go Bragh band, went live on Facebook on Friday evening in order to raise funds for a project being ran in Kenya by St Jude’s GAA (Bournemouth/Southampton).
The project takes place at Camp Tsavo, where the GAA club will be building classrooms for local impoverished children at a primary school. In addition, the volunteers will be teaching the children Gaelic Football, Football and handing out Celtic FC jerseys, before concluding the project with a GAA tournament in Nairobi.
Chris of Erin go Bragh is one of the finest solo acts in Ireland. He is a regular performer at Peader Brown’s bar in Dublin, whilst he has also performed to thousands of Celtic fans in Rome on the eve of the Lazio away match this season.
His unique combination of Irish folk and rebel ballads is popular across the island and beyond, whilst his previous bands such as the Player’s Brigade will be well known to the Celtic support. An example of Chris performing can be seen with this excellent rendition of Beeswing from his debut solo album – Rare Old Times:
The album features the following songs and can be purchased from iTunes by clicking here:
Ordinary Man, First of May, The Ferryman, Beeswing, Streets of New York, The Auld Triangle/Dirty Old Town, On the One Road, God Save Ireland/A Nation Once Again, Lonesome Boatman
