Photo: Griffiths Responds After No Retrospective Action Decision

Leigh Griffiths has taken to Instagram after the decision was made not to upgrade the yellow card he received in Sunday’s win over Hamilton Accies. There were calls for Griffiths to face a retrospective ban following the altercation with Sam Woods where Griffiths appeared to stamp on the Accies player.

This lead to pundits and Accies boss Brian Rice calling for the 29-year-old to face punishment but a committee of former referees agreed that there should be no further action against the striker.

Griffiths’ Instagram story post read ‘Today is a good day’, undoubtedly referencing the decision by the panel.

The striker will be free to play versus Motherwell tomorrow and will be hoping to get on the scoresheet again after impressing since Neil Lennon opted to pair him with Odsonne Edouard in attack.
