Photo Of The Day: Celebrations As Henrik Larsson Scores In The First Minute Against Vittoria Guimaraes

Today’s photo of the day revisits a much forgotten European clash, when Celtic faced Vittoria Guimaraes in the first round of the 1998/99 UEFA Cup. It took Henrik Larsson less than a minute to put the Hoops in front with a magnificent diving header, before Simon Donnelly added another in the second half.

It is the aftermath of the King of Kings’ header, which is the focus of our feature today.

Celtic won the game 2-1 as Geraldo struck a late consolation for the hosts. Though it mattered little as the scoreline was replicated at Celtic Park a week later. Goals came from Stubbs and Larsson on that occasion before an 87th minute strike by Sodestrom made the result a little more respectable for Guimaraes.
