Photo Of The Day: Celtic Applauded Onto The Pitch At Filbert Street

With Celtic playing against Bristol City in a friendly tonight, today’s photo of the day revisits the Hoops’ visit to  Filbert Street to play against Leicester City in a friendly back in April 2002.

As Scottish champions, Celtic were applauded onto the park by the Leicester players and were roared on by 10,000 travelling fans, who the local press described as “raucous”. Both sets of supporters also rose to give Martin O’Neill a standing ovation for his achievements at both clubs.

A goal by John Hartson separated the teams at full time; the champions heading back to Scotland with a 1-0 victory.
