Photo Of The Day: Celtic Line-Up Against Derry City

Today’s photo of the day takes readers back to May 1958, when Celtic travelled to the Brandywell. The match was the last of Celtic’s short tour of Ireland and saw the Hoops dismantle Derry City 7-0. Goals on the afternoon came from Divers (3), Conway, Smith, MacKay (penalty), Auld.

John Divers was brought on as a replacement for Matt McVittie, who broke his arm during the game. Divers was just one of the many recognisable faces in the Celtic line-up, alongside a young Bertie Auld and Billy McNeill, and other established legends such as Bertie Peacock and Neil Mochan.

Other familiar faces were present that afternoon too. Indeed, the full line-up was: Haffey, MacKay, Mochan, Smith, McNeill, Peacock, McVittie (Divers), Jackson, Conway, Wilson, Auld.
