Photo Of The Day: Celtic’s Japanese Hero Scores Again

“We’ve got Abada, he’s on the wing, we’ve got Kyogo, he’s doing his thing, Ange is our leader, we follow the Celtic all over the world,” was the cry bellowing out from section 444 of Celtic Park at one euphoric stage of proceedings last night. And it seems Kyogo’s ‘thing’ is scoring goals at every given opportunity. The Japanese sensation made it six goals in as many games with an outstanding finish against AZ yesterday evening, but in real terms he is rippling the net once every 60 minutes, on average, for the Hoops!

It’s hard to think of a player who has made a better start to life at Celtic Park in recent years. Indeed, the famous ground was awash with white rectangular banners, bearing a crimson-red circle at its centre, a gesture to welcome a new hero in the east end of Glasgow. The land of the rising sun was swapped for another metaphor in the 12th minute as Kyogo rose like a salmon and, with an outstretched right leg, finished with aplomb.

Paradise erupted to salute the Japanese icon, but it is the moment when Kyogo was in full flight that features in our photo of the day this morning.

A quite stunning finish.
