Today’s photo of the day is a poignant one as it shows John Fallon in training at Celtic Park. The great man passed away last week at the age of 84. He was Celtic to the core.
The chosen photo was taken back in 1970, 11 years after he made his debut against Clyde and two years before he departed the club.
There were many highs for the goalkeeper, who played in the 1965 Scottish Cup triumph, the World Club Championship, and Alfredo Di Stefano’s Testimonial among other matches. A Lisbon Lion, Fallon played 184 times for Celtic, keeping 61 clean sheets.
He won 6 league titles, 2 Scottish Cups, 5 League Cups, 1 European Cup.
