Photo of the Day – NZCSC present a gift to Celtic Supporters Association

A wee request for assistance from some of our older readers who may be able to help our New Zealand based writer Mike Maher with some assistance in identifying and naming the Celtic supporters in this photograph which was taken in 1988 as part of Celtic’s centenary celebrations.

If you can help please post you information in the comments section below or drop me an email (editor@thecelticstar.co.uk). Here’s Mike’s request and he promises to follow this up with an article which will be well worth waiting for…

14.05.1988  Imago/ColorsportBilly McNeill (Celtic Glasgow)   Scottish Cup Final 1988

Attached is a photo taken in 1988 when I was back in Scotland for Celtic’s centenary celebrations. The NZCSC presented a gift to the and this photo was taken at the event.

I was wondering if any of The Celtic Star readers could confirm the names of those in the photo? I still catch up with Jim Ward when I am back and I remember Francie Hinton but if anyone can help with confirmation of other names it would be appreciated.

I spent two months in Scotland on that occasion. I also presented Jack McGinn with a centenary gift for Celtic from NZCSC. And in those days it was a lot easier to make contact with players especially as Cesar was manager so I got into Celtic Park a lot easier than would be the case now.

Amazing to think that it’s more than 35 years since that time. I did start to put together a wee article about that visit a few years ago but got sidetracked. It was a great time for Celtic and also for NZCSC.

Maybe I should try and finish it off?
