The return of the photo of the day feature sees Kenny Dalglish pictured on the front of a Shoot magazine from 4 October 1975.
The chosen image shows Kenny in action for Celtic against Derby County’s Kevin Hector, during a friendly on 2 August that year. The Hoops won that encounter over the then English Champions 1-0, thanks to a debut goal, in the 62nd minute, from Johannes Edvaldsson.

That pre-season (1975/76) was to signify the beginning of the the end for a golden generation of Celtic teams. Rangers had stopped Celtic doing ten in a row, with a league title triumph the previous year and the immortal duo of Billy McNeill and Jimmy Johnstone had departed the club, alongside Jim Brogan. Meanwhile, the outstanding George Connelly had all but disappeared from appearing in the starting line up, as had Stevie Murray who was suffering with an injury that would eventually force him to retire. Perhaps most crucially, Jock Stein suffered his near fatal car crash that summer and would not return to the dugout for another year.
Despite everything unravelling at Parkhead, the victory over Derby was impressive and the line up was still a strong one that afternoon:
Latchford, McGrain, Lynch, McCluskey, MacDonald (McNamara), Edvaldsson, Hood, Glavin, Wilson, Dalglish, Lennox. Sub: Connelly.
