Celtic supporters in the Roseburn Stand at Tynecastle this afternoon out on a terrific pyro show prior to kick-off. The display, which was organised by the Green Brigade, had an arrangement of smoke-bombs deployed to make a stunning tricolour behind Joe Hart’s goal.
The accompanying banner ‘IT’S NOT GOING AWAY YOU KNOW’, referencing the recent comments from politicians about the use of pyrotechnics at football grounds.
Rather than cutting back on them, clubs and football authorities should copy the Norwegian model. This model encourages pyrotechnics of an approved nature in certain areas of the ground. Rather than attempting to criminalise enthusiastic supporters, they encourage them and help promote their game.
