We’re grateful to Celtic Star reader Derek Kirwan for giving us the green light to share some family photographs he was shown by his uncle earlier this week while attending a family wedding in England. Derek’s uncle was at Celtic Park on 26 May 1967 o join the huge crowd of Celtic supporters who had gathered to welcome home the newly crowned Champions of Europe.

Earlier today we brought you an exclusive, courtesy of Celtic Historian Pat Woods, who revealed the identity of the VIPs standing next to Billy McNeill when he lifted the trophy in Lisbon after the 2-1 win over Inter Milan. That’s a fascinating wee story and is well worth a read, see below.

Now following on from that here are Derek’s Uncle’s photographs for you to enjoy. These family photographs help tell the story about that wonderful occasion at Celtic Park on a sunny May evening, the day  the Bhoys had ‘won the Big Cup and brought it back’….
