Postecoglou’s Short Response Squashes Nonsense Surrounding Van Bronckhorst Meeting

Earlier this week Ange Postecoglou was photographed in a Glasgow cafe, sat at a table with his wife, Giovanni Van Bronckhorst and Ross Wilson.

The picture went viral on social media and sadly some fans from both Glasgow clubs were incensed by what they saw. Some people questioned the two managers’ abilities to be competitive against one another if the pair are on friendly terms away from the pitch, yet successful players and managers in Scotland have always socialised together. Indeed, the Lisbon Lions would sometimes drink with Rangers players and many were good friends with the great Willie Henderson. The Lions hardly struggled to compete!

Sadly, such childish nonsense was brought up the media at today’s media conference. Ange had little time for such rubbish and responded with a short and stern answer. According to The Herald, the Celtic boss said:

“Has it? Well, let me try and explain,” when told that the image had caused “quite a stir.”

“Husband has morning off and goes for breakfast with his wife in his favourite establishment, bumps into colleague and has a chat,” he continued. “How’s that?!”

Perhaps supporters can focus on the football now. It’s somewhat obvious that Postecoglou wants to win the league for his own success, enjoyment and reputation, as well as for the good of Celtic. Sitting at a table with a rival manager in a cafe hardly does much to change that fact.
