“Probably never happened before, a player has (the)Rangers one week and England the next,” Liam Scales…
Liam Scales reckon that he and Adam Idah are set to achieve something unique and rather special tomorrow afternoon when Ireland play England at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin (kicks-off at 5pm). The two Celtic of course played against Celtic’s fiercest rivals theRangers last weekend and came out on top with that emphatic 3-0 victory. And a similar scoreline tomorrow in Ireland’s favour would be just as awesome for the Celtic pair.
Even just playing theRangers one week and England the next seems pretty special for the Celtic defender who was outstanding in the Glasgow Derby.
Speaking ahead of the England match, the 26 year-old Celtic defender has his eyes firmly fixed on an extremely satisfying double against the two teams that his supporters for club and country dislike the most.
“Yeah, it’s probably never happened before that a player will have (the)Rangers one week and then England the next,” Liam Scales said. “So it’s as good as it gets. Hopefully, we can do as well as we on the weekend against (the)Rangers. I hope we can bring that in with Ireland against England.
“It will be the first one I’ll have been involved in. I know we played them a few years ago but it will be hugely important. You know the history and everything that comes with it. The atmosphere will probably be brilliant and I’m really looking forward to it.
“It’s different, playing for Celtic and playing for Ireland. With Celtic we have time to work together every day and get things right. Here it’s got to be everyone in and straight at it, take it all on board as quickly as possible.
“That’s what we are doing, trying to get the information, the way we want to play, bring that into the game on the weekend and hopefully we’ll get a good result. It is a similar sort of intense rivalry, in that it’s not just about football.”
