Promising Celtic youngster rumoured to make move to English League 2

PROMISING CELTIC YOUNGSTER Lee O’Connor is set to make a loan move to EFL League 2 with Tranmere Rovers. The former Manchester United player signed for Celtic last summer and has been on loan at Partick Thistle in the second half of last season. However he appears to be on the verge of a move to Mike Jackson’s Tranmere.

Aidan Jones, who has experience as a media assistant with a number of English clubs, took to Twitter to update Tranmere’s supporters of the potential capture of the Ireland internationalist. The Merseyside club were relegated last season and the versatile defender will be an impressive addition to their ranks.

Despite being highly rated at Celtic Park, O’Connor has failed to make the breakthrough that he had hoped for, whilst Jeremie Frimpong – who signed on the same day in 2019 – became a regular around the first team. Despite being yet to make his Celtic debut, O’Connor made his Ireland debut in a 3-1 win over New Zealand in November and has captained the Celtic reserve side.

Celtic will also be glad at getting the promising youngster some important first team football before returning to the club.
