Pundit backs Tom Rogic for leading role at Pittodrie

CHRIS SUTTON has backed Tom Rogic to start against Aberdeen at Pittodrie tomorrow and has tipped the magic Australian to ‘carve’ Derek McInnes’ side apart. Rogic made an appearance from the bench on Thursday as Celtic became a lot more threatening going forward and Sutton believes Neil Lennon has to start him tomorrow.

Speaking to the Daily Record, Sutton reckons that Rogic should start even if it is for an hour as Celtic look to come away from a tough venue with maximum points.

“If I were Neil, I’d be starting him at Aberdeen tomorrow. He’s got the ability to carve Aberdeen apart. Even if you can only get an hour of him, he could have won you the game by then with some magic. There are occasions when it just needs some finesse. For someone to relax in a deadly area and Rogic does just that.”

The Celtic Star have long since held the view that Rogic is one of Celtic’s best players when he is fit and can unlock defences like no-one else at the club. The Australian has conjured up some magic in games against the Granite City side, most memorably in that Scottish Cup Final in 2017 after his last minute winner sealed an Invincible Treble.

Rogic has a contract until 2023 but was linked with a multi-million move to Qatar in the summer. However, fortunately the deal fell through and now Rogic can make his mark in Neil Lennon’s side this year.
