Pundit issues ‘too good’ warning to Kieran Tierney

Ex-Celtic player, Kenny Miller has sent Kieran Tierney some transfer advice, claiming that the Scottish international is ‘too good’ to waste away on the Arsenal bench.

Following Kieran Tierney’s big-money move from Celtic to join Arsenal in London, his game time has become extremely limited. Spells of injury and competition for positions have kept Tierney’s game time severely limited. Most notably, the signing of Oleksandr Zinchenko from Manchester City proved to be an excellent signing for Arsenal, but not so much for Tierney.

Arriving only at the beginning of last season, he was a key part of Arsenal’s title race against Manchester City and became a fan favourite. However, his dominance at the left-back position firmly displaced Tierney’s place in the squad. So, speculation has been growing that Tierney will exit Arsenal this Summer in order to get some more game time. Kieran Tierney has been linked with several moves away from Arsenal this summer, with Newcastle and Aston Villa reportedly showing interest.

As reported by Football Scotland, Kenny Miller believes Tierney must make a move away from the London giants so he can get more game time. He said…

“I think he needs to now. He’s had his injury problems over the course of his career but for me when he plays he’s a world-class left-back. There’s no getting away from it.”

“To play regularly he probably needs to step away from Arsenal and there will be loads of teams who are interested, there will be loads of suitors, there’s no doubt about it. Newcastle are a team who have been constantly linked with him.”

“He was linked with Real Madrid at one point. He’ll have any number of admirers. He should go and play more regularly. It doesn’t seem to affect his performances at the international level but when you’re playing week in, week out there’s a different edge to your game. There’s potentially more in from what we’ve seen.”

“If he’s not going to be getting a game he’s too good to be sitting part of a squad. He’s one of our best players. A move to Newcastle with everything going on at that place would be a big step, they have Champions League football as well. If he moves he’ll have a number of options.”

Tierney is certainly a world-class player and is simply too good to be wasted on Arsenal’s bench. Miller’s comments are exactly spot on here, hopefully, Tierney will do what’s right for him and make a move.

There has been some speculation that Tierney would be interested in a return to Celtic on loan but the reality is that a player on £100k a week wouldn’t take a pay cut at this stage in his career.
