Ralston reckons past European struggles have been overcome

Anthony Ralston has revealed his thoughts on Celtic’s chances of their upcoming Champions League fixtures against Shakhtar Donetsk.

The Celtic full-back took part in Celtic’s historic 4-3 victory at Tynecastle over Hearts in the first-ever Scottish Premiership game to feature VAR. However, if the Hoops hope to keep playing European football after Christmas, they will have to secure all three points in Paradise on Tuesday against Shakhter Donetsk.

Although, it is worth keeping in mind that Celtic have scored 14 goals in their last 3 matches. If Celtic maintain this ruthless streak when the Ukrainian side clashes with the Bhoys in Paradise, the Hoops should be more than capable securing of securing all three points and going on into the last game with a chance of escaping from the bottom of Group F.

As the Bhoys are currently sitting in last place, everything is on the line for the next two games. A victory on Tuesday will put the Hoops in a position to take on Real Madrid at the Bernabeu and go all-out to keep European hopes alive, all or nothing.

Ralston admits that the fixtures will be tough but he believes if the Bhoys stick to playing their own football, and continue to create chances, they will be fine. As reported by The Scotsman, Ralston:

“No matter what opponent we come up against, it’s about how we play our football and we focus on ourselves. We know the quality the opposition has. When you’re playing at the highest level, it’s tough. But that’s where you want to be. We all want to play our football there.”

“We have created a lot of chances in Europe and results could have been different,” said Ralston. “But we’re back in Europe on Tuesday night and ready to put on a good performance.

“We’re concentrating now on resting, recovering and going again. There’s been frustration through all the games with the chances we’ve created. It’s all behind us now. We’ve addressed it and we move onto Tuesday now.”
