Rangers Captain’s Mentality Should Fuel Celtic at Ibrox

Rangers captain James Tavernier’s mentality should give Celtic the added belief that we can go to Ibrox and win again next weekend. Neil Lennon’s men can take advantage of the situation that the Rangers captain finds himself in with people demanding that he be stripped of the role following comments regarding Gerrard’s team.

Speaking prior to last night’s defeat to Hamilton Accies, the right-back told the match day programme that him and his Rangers teammates struggle when put under pressure. They actually let him print that.

Needless to say, the Rangers support are on his back coupling that with a series of errors in recent games – such as a mistake versus Hearts and missing an open goal last night. Now it appears that Tavernier is set for a torrid time should Rangers slip up in any of their next three games.

Their captain has this mentality and it should be seen as an immense opportunity for Celtic to capitalise on their misfortunes.
The trip to Ibrox comes between their games versus Bayer Leverkusen and Neil Lennon’s men know that they are scared of teams having a go at them.

Put their centre backs under any real pressure and they will crumble. Goals conceded versus Hearts and Hamilton prove that. We need to be patient and defend well, which is not what we did in December.

A win at Ibrox could effectively clinch 9IAR and they know it. Tavernier, who boasts a Challenge Cup winners medal, has been on the end of some drubbings by Celtic and hopefully he is a few more times before he’s hounded out of Ibrox.

Last time out, Odsonne Edouard and Jonny Hayes scored to complete a dominant 2-0 win at the beginning of September. We have done it once this season at Ibrox and surely as they implode, we can do it again.
