Rangers manager makes remarkable Callum McGregor comments

Rangers manager Philippe Clement has made some remarkable comments regarding Callum McGregor’s involvement in the game back in December.

Celtic won the game thanks to goals from Paulo Bernardo and Kyogo but the Celtic captain dominated the midfield as Sterling, Cantwell and Lundstrum couldn’t cope with the Scotland Internationalist.

However, speaking to the media conference ahead of the third league meeting between the sides, Clement said that he did not think McGregor dominated the game before praising the influence of the 30-year-old.

Clearly Clement was watching another game as McGregor was excellent as his role in the deep lying role protected an inexperienced back four as well as break up any Rangers forays forward as well as contributing towards going forward. It seems to be a case of Clement trying to gee his players up by giving them some motivation that he believes that they were able to compete with McGregor in the game.

It remains to be seen whether Brendan Rodgers will start McGregor on Sunday as he has just returned from injury. Rodgers said in his own media conference that he would need to make a decision on what role McGregor plays at Ibrox.
