Rangers v Celtic FC Women – Kit Loferski to miss title showdown

Kit Loferski has suffered a foot injury and could be out for the rest of the season, as confirmed by Elena Sadiku in her pre-match press conference.

The manager, speaking to The Celtic Star, said: “I don’t know the answer about being out for the season but obviously, she’s been missing some games now. Let’s see how the recovery goes with her foot, hopefully, we can see what happens on Monday or after that, but it doesn’t look too bright.”

The Celtic Star’s photograph from the midweek draw against Glasgow City certainly looks like there’s a significant injury and the speedy American forward missed the Scottish Cup semi-final at Hampden and the draw against the current Champions on Wednesday night. And Elena Sadiku confirmed that Loferski will miss tomorrow’s high noon showdown against theRangers, which is live on Sky Sports.

Both teams are level on points with four games remaining. Celtic have a significant goal difference advantage so a draw at Broadwood tomorrow probably suits the Ghirls more than their opponents.

ON CELTIC SHORTS…Beautiful Sunday: “It was good to get on the scoresheet, not only to get one but two,” Tash Flint

Supporters were questioning the whereabouts after Kit wasn’t in the squad for the Women’s Scottish Cup semi-final clash against theRangers at Hampden. It was thought that she would be dead-set to start considering our rivals often struggle to deal with the pacey American forward.

She was spotted in a moon boot at Hampden and again at the Excelsior when we faced Glasgow City, so we knew it wasn’t looking good, but with her injury status not “look[ing]too bright”, that brings on the fear that she may be sidelined for the rest of the season.

This isn’t the first injury that Kit has suffered this season as she was sidelined for a spell earlier in the season. She was injured in October and was out until January, so hopefully, this isn’t a repeat of that.

The forward has been looking good this season, threatening opponents with her pace and skill on and off the ball. In 21 appearances, 14 of which she’s started, she has 14 goal contributions. She is a brilliant option to have when she is available and there’s no doubt Elena knows that.

Murphy Agnew, Tash Flint and Amy Gallacher will probably be Celtic’s front three at Broadwood on Monday lunchtime.  COYGIG!
