New York Red Bulls are hoping to complete the signing of Celtic full-back Andrew Gutman. The 24-year-old is being sought after by the Big Apple club on a loan but this would be complicated process, involving Atlanta United signing the attacking full back on a permanent deal before loaning him to New York.
According to Once a Metro, Gutman is wanted by the Red Bull outfit as his career with the Glasgow side looks to be over. Celtic have Gutman signed up until 2022 after he signed a three year deal but due to failing to meet strict visa rules has yet to make an appearance at the club.
Gutman joined Celtic from Chicago FC United in January 2019 after trialing at Rangers before opting for the Scottish Champions. Despite having never played for the club in a competitive match for Celtic, Gutman impressed in the Austrian pre-season tour before being sent on loan. The player has played with Cincinnati this season and last but joined Atlanta United earlier this year.
Gutman was one of Celtic’s last signings under Brendan Rodgers but it looks as if he won’t get the chance to make his Celtic debut due to the red-tape involved in joining the club.
