Report – Celtic alerted as Brentford’s £6.5M Toney bid accepted by Peterborough

TalkSPORT have claimed this afternoon that Celtic target Ivan Toney is the subject of a £6.5m plus ad-ons bid from Brentford. And perhaps more importantly it appears that his current club Peterborough have accepted it, thus setting Celtic a clear target if they wish to offer a similar sum to bring in the League One striker.

“Brentford have £10m bid accepted for Peterborough’s Ivan Toney. The deal is £6.5m up front plus add ons, talkSPORT sources understand,” talkSPORT have claimed.

Brentford missed out on a place in the Premier League after losing the Play-off final to Fulham at the start of this month. The Championship remains a particularly difficult league to get out off via promotion and you would have to imagine that much of that addition £3.5million in add-ons is going to be focused on number of goals scored, volume of appearances and perhaps most importantly Brentford getting promotion to the Premier League for the first time ever.

With Toney reported to be keen on a move to Celtic, and with Peterborough promising to keep Celtic informed of development surrounding transfer activity concerning the striker, it looks like Peter Lawwell and Neil Lennon have got themeless to make your mind up time.

On Friday Steven Fletcher joined Stoke City after failing to reach an agreement with Celtic on the length of a possible contract.Toney looks like finding out quite quickly if his dream move to Celtic going to go through or not.

Neil Lennon confirmed that Leigh Griffiths remains sidelined and will not feature tomorrow night in the Champions League qualifier against KR Reykjavik.
