Celtic legend Neil Lennon has not been included on the shortlist to become the next Hibernian manager. The Irishman, who had two spells as Celtic manager, was linked with a return to the dugout with the Edinburgh outfit but it appears that he will not be returning to Hibs.
According to The Scotsman, Lennon has not been included on the five man shortlist for the Easter Road gig. Following Lee Johnson’s departure, Lennon was one of the first names to be mentioned given that he is out of work.
However, the report dictates that Nick Montgomery of Central Coast Mariners is the preferred candidate for the role with a £50k buy-out. Kilmarnock’s Derek McInnes, St Mirren’s Stephen Robinson and Ross County’s Malky Mackay are also believed to be included but Lenny is not.
Lennon was hugely successful as a player making 264 appearances after joining from Leicester City. The Irishman won ten titles with Celtic, eight Scottish Cups and three league cups in two spells as manager and as a player.
Hopefully the ex-Celtic boss gets back into the dugout and you could see him certainly going into the international management scene in the near future.
