Report claims Celtic are already planning to make Shane Duffy’s move permanent

SHANE DUFFY has not yet kicked a ball for Celtic but his signing has certainly gone down well with supporters. With the news filtering through yesterday that a deal was imminent, the announcement was met with delight as the Derry-born defender sealed a dream move to the club.

The Daily Record are reporting that the Scottish Champions are keen on making the deal permanent as they are sure that the defender’s time in Glasgow will be a success.

Despite having years left on his contract at Brighton, Celtic could look to bring their new No.4 back on a permanent basis. The Ireland international will join up with Neil Lennon’s side after the FAI complete their fixtures over the course of the weekend. Duffy will join Ajer, Jullien and Bitton as Lennon will look to utilise a 3-5-2, something that appears to have been successful under Lennon.

Celtic will no doubt be planning in the eventuality that Kris Ajer will depart the club but the Athletic’s Kieran Devlin confirmed that should Ajer leave it would not be because Duffy had been signed, instead the club will look for another ball playing defender.
