Report details Celtic’s €600k fee for incoming defender

Liam Scales will travel to Glasgow for his medical ahead of a move from Shamrock Rovers today. The Irish defender played last night in their Europa Conference League exit and bid farewell to Rovers as he heads for Celtic.

The Irish Examiner claim that Celtic will pay just €600k for the highly rated 23-year-old. Personal terms have already been agreed and it will just be a matter of formalities at this stage as he looks to sign on the dotted line.

Scales can play as a left sided central defender, a left back or a left wing back and that seems to be an area of the side that Celtic’s squad needs strengthened. Scales appears to be a squad signing as well as offering hope for future progression. Ange Postecoglou has spoken about wanting a number of players in and the versatility Scales offers will certainly act in his favour moving forward.

There will likely be some more movement before the end of the window on Tuesday but Celtic will immediately turn their attention to the game against Rangers at Ibrox on Sunday. This fixture could potentially give Celtic an advantage both in terms of the league and mentally ahead of the international break. Thereafter, Celtic can focus on incomings and outgoings but the focus over the next few days is three points on Sunday.
