Report in Germany claims Celtic have enquired about Bayern Munich keeper despite Barkas signing

DESPITE signing Vasilias Barkas from AEK Athens last week, Celtic have been linked with a move for Bayern Munich goalkeeper Sven Ulreich. The German publication Sport1 claims that the Scottish Champions have made contact with the German Champions about the availability of the 32-year-old.

Ulreich has one year remaining on his deal with the Bundesliga winners and is the subject of interest from England as well as his native Germany. A move would be highly unlikely as the player has spent his career playing as second choice to Manuel Neuer and is likely to be after game time should he decide to leave Munich.

Barkas signed in a £4.5m deal last week but is yet to make his debut, with Scott Bain being preferred for the game against Hamilton last week. It is likely that Barkas will make his debut versus Killie and Bain will act as a worthy understudy with Conor Hazard acting as the club third choice.

A move is highly unlikely and it is more probable that Celtic made their enquiry – if they did – prior to Barkas signing.
