Report: Italian Champions ‘in talks’ regarding Sydney Cup headline slot

Serie A champions AC Milan are reportedly in talks to take up the second headline role in The Sydney Cup, according to a report. After theRangers withdrew from their role as support act, tournament organisers are having to explore their options to find a big name to appear.

As per The Scottish Daily Mail, I Rossoneri are in talks regarding this role despite Everton being eyed for the position too. The Sydney Cup organisers will reveal the club’s opponents in due course for the money-spinning tournament in Australia during the Winter Break as the World Cup takes place in Qatar.

With the World Cup taking place in November, an early winter break has been pencilled in for the Scottish clubs and the rest of Europe as the stars take their place at the tournament in Qatar. Celtic have signed up to play the friendlies in Australia. The move is said to net Celtic more money than prize money from winning the Cinch Premiership.

Celtic were announced as the headliners for Ange’s Homecoming Tour with theRangers, Sydney FC, and Western Sydney Wanderers making up the mini-tournament in the close season. theRangers withdrew citing contractual obligations hadn’t been met but this was rejected Down Under, sparking bemused responses from those in charge.
