Report says Celtic considering Premier League options for January moves

Brendan Rodgers is reportedly considering bringing players in from the English Premier League. The Irishman, who has had spells in the league as manager with Swansea, Liverpool and Leicester, is looking to strengthen his team in the final weeks of January.

As reported by Record Sport, Rodgers wants a left-back and a striker once Nicolas Kuhn has been secured. The report states that Celtic are reviewing the options available in the English Premier League ahead of potential moves. However, that is caveated by saying that doing business with the EPL is more straightforward in the summer window.

The report states that Mark Lawwell has been exploring loan options as the club look towards strengthening. It is perhaps frustrating that the club are looking at loan options but if they represent value to the club then a deal may be successful. Although, moves like Oli Burke, Timo Weah and Nat Phillips in terms of short term loans don’t fill the support with confidence.

The reference to the Premier League might be a reference to Liverpool duo Owen Beck and Caoimhin Kelleher, who have been heavily linked over the last few days on social media.

Beck, who spent the first half of the season with Dundee, was recalled to Liverpool this month. The Welsh youngster showed his class while in the SPFL at Dens Park. Meanwhile, Kelleher is an Irish Internationalist and plays second fiddle to Allison Becker in Jurgen Klopp’s estimations.
