Report – Want Away Ajer’s Agent asks Celtic for transfer price to allow exit

KRIS AJER, posted missing at the left side of the defence last night at the opening goal, is the first want away Celtic star to show his hand and reveal himself as one of the want aways that Neil Lennon lambasted last night after the shock Champions League exit against Ferencvaros – the easiest Celtic have exited the tournament in 15 years.

Ajer has been the subject of ongoing transfer speculation for many months and his former agent had previously told the media that the Norwegian defender would not be signing a new contract. The player changed agent soon afterwards but his intention to leave the club remained. Now after Neil Lennon bringing the matter into the public domain last night Ajer’s agent, according to Glasgow Times, has now asked Celtic for a valuation so that a move can take place.

However the report reveals that no such valuation was given to the agent amid interest from Italy and England.  They also report that Shane Duffy is having second thoughts on a move to Celtic after the Champions League door was closed for yet another season. There isn’t much to back that up other than stating the bleeding obvious.

Last night Lennon put the cat among the pigeons saying: “”There are some players who may want to leave and have made inroads into that in the last six months or so. If they are making waves to leave the club they are obviously not committed. I have just put this out there because it has been bugging me for a long, long time. If they don’t want to be here we have to do something.”

Hopefully Ajer is posted missing again on Sunday, when the Celtic team sheet is leaked. Wonder who has been doing that? Answers on a postcard….

And the Celtic legend John Hartson had this to say on the subject of want away players…”I’m not part of what the players do or say or how they train or mix or if they are together. But what I do know and feel strongly about is if you don’t want to play for the club and the manager, then you need to go. It’s too big and there is too much at stake.”
