Reports: Celtic chase highly rated French forward

DESPITE no football appearing on the horizon, the rumour mill is in full flow regarding transfer business. Last night, Get Football News France broke the story that Celtic were interested in raiding the French market for a highly rated youngster.

Lille’s Fadiga Ouattara is the latest player to be linked with the Scottish Champions. The 18-year-old has a contract until June 2021 but is reportedly the interest of various teams due to his impressive performances with the French youth teams. However, he is yet to make a first team appearance with Lille.

Ouattara may have seen his first team appearances limited in France due to  Lille’s decision to sign former Celtic loan striker, Timothy Weah last summer.

Celtic signed Odsonne Edouard from PSG’s academy as well as signing Christopher Jullien from Toulouse. The club appear to be scouting youth players at various different clubs that have been playing at a junior international level in order to propel them into the first team.

Examples of Celtic taking promising youngsters that may have been toiling in the academies of these super clubs like Manchester City and PSG could be Edouard or Jeremie Frimpong, both who have used the platform at Celtic to prove their worth.

The pathway to the first team has also been used by Moussa Dembele, who spent two seasons at Celtic before departing in a £20m move to Lyon.

Celtic have also been reported as chasing Dutch youngster from Stoke City, Mohamed Sankoh.

Yesterday, the club also confirmed the signing of Australian youngster Stefan Nikolic on a three-year deal.
