Reports: Celtic could capitalise on Hearts turmoil with Hickey bid

Celtic could be set to capitalise on Hearts’ turmoil with a bid for left-back Aaron Hickey. The 17-year-old was a youth product of Celtic before joining the Jambos but due to turmoil at Tynecastle, Celtic could get a cut-price deal for the highly rated youngster according to reports.

The Scottish Sun is reporting that Celtic and Crystal Palace are ‘keeping tabs’ on Hickey as uncertainty surrounds the Edinburgh side. Earlier this week, Ann Budge announced that Hearts would be offering their players a 50% wage cut or the opportunity to have their contracts mutually terminated.

Hickey is a tidy player with an abundance of potential, which Celtic will be interested in nurturing. Peter Lawwell and Nick Hammond will, however, be excited that they could get the youngster on a free transfer or a cut price deal as reality bites in Gorgie.

Celtic have a sell-on fee of 30%, which could lower the price further in an attempt to bring Hickey back to Lennoxtown. Should Celtic go for Hickey?
