Respected journalist Mark Hendry has poured cold water on links of Ola Solbakken coming to Celtic. The 25-year-old will return to Jose Mourinho’s Roma after a spell on loan with Olympiacos.
Social media rumours this evening have suggested that Solbakken has been offered to the Scottish Champions as Brendan Rodgers looks to strengthen his options in the January window.
However, Hendry has said that ‘there is nothing’ in suggestions that Celtic could be signing the former Bodo/Glimt man on loan.
Ola Solbakken has played for both Roma and Olympiacos this season.
Nothing in the Celtic loan chatter.— Mark Hendry (@mhendry92) January 1, 2024
Solbakken appeared for just 22 minutes for Roma at the start of the season before switching to Greece, where he made just 8 appearances.
Whilst Hendry has said that there is nothing in the rumours, his suggestion is that a player can only play for two teams in one season. FIFA rules appear to dictate that a player can play for three clubs in one season but only official games for two so it would not be a goer at this stage.
We've been offered Ola Solbakkan. Roma want shot and he's not had a great time in Greece.

It could be an interesting one to watch moving forward as Solsbakken would be a quality addition to the first team.
In 91 appearances for Bodo, Solbakken scored 20 times and assisted on 24 occasions. The Norwegian International was part of the team that beat Celtic home and away in the Europa Conference League and impressed with pace and power on the left hand side.
