Roaring the Bhoys to the Title – It’s what we Celtic supporters do

So Celtic are still top after all their shouting. Although we shouldn’t be in this position, but now is not the time to dwell on that, we have a league to win starting on Saturday and every game thereafter…

So instead of sitting in 2nd place or joint top, whatever it may be called, we still occupy that top spot. That’s in spite of all the shouting done by theRangers supporters in the last week or so. They told us they would be top, it was a sure thing. More Aye right than aye ready.

That said, it’s still infuriating that we let go of our once healthy lead at the top of the table. We have given theRangers major encouragement to get back into a title race they had already conceded, foolishly early.  Celtic’s inconsistency coupled with dropping silly points – especially in the games down against St Johnstone, Motherwell and Hibs, has meant that they didn’t even have to be at their best to cut that gap. We should never have let it happen but  it’s all in the past and there’s no point dwelling on it.

There is a title to be won after all. Starting on Saturday as we face up to the tough challenge of an in-form Kilmarnock side at Celtic Park. Derek McInnes’ side has already beaten Celtic twice in the one season, but both those games were on the plastic surface at Rugby Park. On Saturday Celtic are at home at Celtic Park and will have the backing of a 60,000 crowd.  Each and every single one of us must give the team our full backing.

One things for sure, we will need to be a helluva lot better than we were in our last home game three weeks ago against Ross County. Anything less and we could be punished by a side who will fancy their chances of a third win in a season over Celtic – has that ever happened before?

We have high expectations of successfully defending our title so we must win, like we have to do in all our remaining games. It’s not out of our reach, and it’s more than achievable. Celtic has found decent level of consistency, since that double losses against Kilmarnock and Hearts in mid December. Let’s hope we can achieve our first target starting on Saturday and that means three points and hopefully a decent contribution to the goal difference situation.

Then theRangers will have all the pressure on Sunday up at McDiarmid Park in Perth where the pitch will be heavy and the Saints will be getting stuck in against the sinners. It’s going to be close, points can be dropped unexpectedly and we’re going to have to wait until the last game or two to know if we’ve done enough. All we can do is give Brendan and the players everything we’ve got.

About Author

An ordinary everyday Celtic supporters hailing and still residing in Govan in the shadows of the enemy. I’m a season ticket holder. I Witnessed my first Celtic game in 1988 and have attended when I can ever since. Growing up in the 90s I witnessed Celtic at their lowest, and now appreciate the historic success we enjoy today. I enjoy writing about this wonderful football club and hopefully will continue to do so. I’ve always been a keen writer and initially started this a hobby. My ambition is to one day become as good an author as my fellow Celtic Star colleagues.
