Rodgers Responds – The Celtic fightback started today!

THE CELTIC FIGHTBACK started today and it will come as no surprise that the man leading Green and White counter offensive is Brendan Rodgers.

Kilmarnock substitute Kris Boyd’s comments have now been pinned on the dressing room door and the Celtic manager’s put down of the former Rangers frontman – who incidentally has had a miserable scoring record against Celtic throughout his career – will go down as one of the quotes of this or any other season.

Celtic have started to respond. A sleeping green giant has been woken from its slumber and it’s going to get angry on the pitch – starting tomorrow against St Johnstone.

Brendan Rodgers faced the press today at Lennoxown and came in with all guns blazing, the message is clear – Celtic are up for the fight.

“I take total responsibility for the two games we’ve lost,” Brendan stated. “I made big changes to the teams in both games we’ve lost. I trust all the players that come in, but it’s something I need to look at if we’re going to lose that sort of stability,” the official Celtic website reported.

“We have a blueprint which is very stable in terms of how we play football. Normally when we execute that we have a winning strategy. From time to time, we won’t win games and we have to accept that. When you’re at a big club you have to accept there’s a bit of heat that comes with that, but what’s very important is that you stay calm and unified and that’s very much what we are.

“What we’ve shown over the few years here with how we work is there’s lots of variation within that. At the moment we’re short in that variety in our play which can then look a bit stiff and rigid. That’s not normally how we are, but we’ll get back to our way of working. That’s my responsibility as the manager to ensure that I can take the team back to that.”

The highlight of the press conference though was the response to the question put to Brendan regarding the comments made by Kilmarnock substitute Kris Boyd and Celtic having a split dressing room and Olivier Ntcham not wanting to play for the club.

“We’re very much together. I’m very calm with situation. Kris is probably best suited trying to get himself into the Kilmarnock team to get playing and we will concentrate on our own job in here,” was the brilliant reply from the Celtic manager.

We like that, Brendan. We like it a lot. You are going to see a very different kind of performance from Celtic tomorrow night – Celtic are back and are up for the battle.
