Rosenborg sack manager days before Paradise visit

Rosenborg have announced that Kåre Ingebrigtsen has been relieved of his duties as manager of the Norwegian champions.

The 52-year-old, who has been manager since 2014, was sensationally sacked after beating part-timers Valur 3-1 last night to set up a rematch with Celtic. It looked like Rosenborg were heading out until a last minute penalty – soft in the extreme – saved their Champions League involvement but it was not enough to save Kåre Ingebrigtsen’s job.

Rosenborg are due to play Celtic on Wednesday and the Trondheim side will be hoping that they can overcome this turbulence ahead of the Champions League second round qualifier.

What they are likely to find is a very different standard and performance level from Celtic. It could be a very uncomfortable few weeks for the Norwegian Champions.
