Rumoured interest in Abada from Sporting debunked by Portuguese sources

It has been rumoured over the past 24 hours that Celtic winger Liel Abada was a target for Portuguese giants Sporting, but that’s now been debunked by Portuguese media outlet Record Portugal via their twitter account @Record_Portugal.

According to the Portuguese outlet there is absolutely no interest in the Israeli international from Sporting, so the story looks likening no more the usual negative yarn spun by our ‘unbiased’ media when it comes to Celtic.

Here’s a Sky Sports reporter tweeting about Sporting being interested in signing Liel Abada.

Ajax have also been credited with an interest in the winger, and have previously said to be have been interested, so whether that has a hint of truth to it one remains to be seen.

Liel Abada changed his agent last season so rumours have been circulating since that he is looking for a move away. He also spoke out about his desire to stay at the club, so there is mixed signals floating about.

Abada is a terrific player with great potential and one we don’t want to lose and if any offer comes in, it will need to be a substantial one as he still has three years remaining on his contract. Maybe with Jota away and with Brendan Rodgers now the Celtic manager both of those factors could work in Abada’s favour so it might be worth his while remaining at Celtic for at least one more season.

Expect more negative stories to emerge in the next few days regarding our players, especially since Kyogo signed a new deal today, the hacks will be frustrated that we have a feel good aura surrounding the club and they have lost for the time being at least, their speculation stories that Kyogo would be getting sold. Watch this space for alternative as we point out alternative variations of the same theme on Reo Hatate, Carl Starfelt (because Jacynta left the women’s team), maybe Cameron Carter-Vickers and don’t forget Matt O’Riley.

We’re doomed I tell ye, we’re doomed!
