Ryan Christie In Leicester And Leeds Transfer Link

Ryan Christie played his part in a historic day last weekend. His stunning opener was a carbon copy of his goal at the same end in the Semi Final.

Christie’s contract expires in 2022 and he has not shown a willingness to extend that deal with the Scottish champions. Inevitably, the rumour mill would start churning up some transfer stories and in recent weeks we have heard that Christie was looking for a move to Burnley.

According to 90MIN , Christie is now thought to be capturing the interest of Leicester City and Leeds United. The midfielder burst onto the scene at Parkhead under Brendan Rodgers, who is a known admirer of the player. Rodgers of course left Celtic for Leicester in dubious circumstances, thus a move to reunite with his old boss wouldn’t be the most bizarre story to unfold.

Reports in the same publication suggest that Leeds United are also monitoring Christie closely. He certainly has the engine and industrious style of play for which Marco Bielsa’s Leeds side are renowned. Whether or not the English Premiership newcomers make a move for the player remains to be seen.

Celtic kept all of their top talents in the summer. It was a decision that was lauded by fans, but ultimately has backfired with a number of players supposedly wanting away. The Hoops will be looking to freshen things up to turn this season around and if they agree to a January sale for Ryan Christie then they may reap the rewards with a significant cash boost at this stage. The longer this transfer saga rumbles on, the more the value of the player will diminish with the clock ticking on his Celtic Park deal.

We will be watching this story with interest and updating on any developments, in terms of transfers or breakthroughs in contract negotiations.
