Ryan Porteous to miss Celtic clash after Hibs defender banned

Ryan Porteous will miss Hibs visit to Celtic Park next month after being handed a three-match ban for kicking out at Aberdeen striker Christian Ramirez. The central defender has a chequered disciplinary record and now the SFA have decided to pass down a punishment after it was missed by the officials in the 1-0 win.

The Edinburgh club confirmed in a statement that the central defender would miss the game at Celtic Park on Monday 17th January as well as the games against Motherwell and Cove Rangers. In a recent game against Celtic, Porteous lunged at Callum McGregor, which the Celtic captain narrowly avoided a serious injury from. The Edinburgh-born defender clearly has talent but a nasty streak plagues any progress.

Porteous may benefit from the coaching of Shaun Maloney, who will want to cut out this petulant behaviour from his game as he will quickly be labeled as a thug and his ability with the ball will be forgotten.
