Scott Brown’s influence at Aberdeen apparent as Shay Logan sent on loan

Celtic’s captain Scott Brown is due to join Aberdeen next season but his influence is apparent in the deal to ship nomadic right-back Shay Logan to Championship side Hearts. Stephen Glass has sanctioned the move but he is likely to have sought counsel from his incoming player-coach, Brown, who has often battled with Logan on the pitch.

According to The Sun, Logan should be available for the weekend’s game against Dunfermline Athletic. Logan has made just twelve appearances this season but Glass has opted to send him to Tynecastle for the rest of the campaign. The 33-year-old has often taken his chances to kick Brown, smash the ball against him when he was on the ground and generally attempt to engage in petty fights with the legendary Celtic captain.

There is still The Scottish Cup to play for in the hope that Brown will leave the club on a relative high after fourteen years. He will then take the transitional role as a player-coach by Glass’ side as Aberdeen look to build on the stability that Derek McInnes brought to the club.

Brown won 22 trophies during a trophy-laden spell in Paradise. Brown and Glass have worked together before. The pair played together at Hibs before Brown completed a move to Celtic in 2007. In that time, Brown became one of Celtic’s most decorated player, became an Invincible Treble winner as well as racking up the most European appearances for a Celtic player. Brown is expected to make the transition into management and you cannot rule out seeing him in the Paradise dugout at some point, although it will be a shame to see the player leave after this season.
