Scottish FA confirms traditional 3pm kick-off time for Scottish Cup Final

Common sense prevails as tradition kick off time for Scottish Cup Final is confirmed…

The SFA this morning confirmed that the Scottish Cup Final on Saturday 25 May will be a traditional 3pm kick off.

After last year’s showpiece was moved to 5.30pm to accommodate the FA cup final between Manchester United and Manchester City, it was thought that this year’s one would be moved also, but a 12.30pm kick off was touted due to Police Scotland fears of holding a Glasgow Derby so late on a Saturday evening.

Fortunately and maybe rather surprisingly the Scottish FA has showed common sense by sticking to the traditional 3pm kick off. The Glasgow Derby is a much bigger game than the Manchester Derby anyway and if any game was to be moved then it should have been the English one! They will say the opposite and are just as entitled to their view as we are but for folk in Scotland Hampden is the only show on town on Scottish Cup Final day.

It’s a great boost for the supporters who can now relax and enjoy a traditional kick off instead of a dire lunchtime kick off, which is NOT the time for our national cup final. We don’t usually give them any credit, but well done to the Scottish FA for refusing to budge for another country’s national cup final.

Posting on the official Scottish FA website the news was confirmed this morning:
