CELTIC striker Vakoun Issouf Bayo has avoided serving a two match suspension that would have otherwise followed him to Scotland, by paying a fine of €1000 to the Slovakian FA.
And this means that the striker is available to make his Celtic debut on Saturday late afternoon against Airdrie at Celtic Park in the Scottish Cup.
Bayo was booked in his last appearance for Dunajska Streda against Zilina in a match that ended in a 2-2 draw.
He was later cited for a “striking an opponent with excessive force in the head and neck,” and was given a 3 match ban. He had served one of these three matches before his transfer to Celtic so the remaining two would have moved to Glasgow with him.

However Slovakian FA rules permit Bayo to pay a fine of €1000 instead of the ban and the player has now opted to do this so he arrives in Scotland with a clean slate.
He’ll also be pleased to learn that “striking an opponent with excessive force in the head and neck” is not something that is discouraged or punished in Scottish football, either by referees or indeed the SFA’s Compliance Officer.
Or does that only apply depending on the colour of strip you wear?
