Watch the highlights of free-scoring Celtic FC Women’s impressive 6-0 win over Hamilton on Sunday afternoon with Fran Alonso’s side gearing up for this Sunday’s Scottish Cup semi-final against Hearts at Falkirk Stadium.
Now what happens in these semi-finals for both the League Cup last November and the Scottish Cup on this Bank Holiday weekend is that the two matches are played at the same venue on the same day. Supporters can get along and watch both matches or if they prefer just the one involving their own team.
Creative thinking, we like that but and with Scottish football there’s usually a but…
Why are these Scottish Cup semi-final games not being played on Bank Holiday Monday to give them the focus that they merit? It’s a suggestion that we made but it got patched completely.
So with Celtic at home to theRangers at Celtic Park on Sunday with a 12noon kick-off you would anticipate that those planning the timings of the two semi-finals on the same day might think that they’d get a better audience for their television partner of they scheduled the Glasgow City versus Partick Thistle tie for the lunchtime kick-off and allow The Celtic v Hearts tie to take place late afternoon.

That’s actually what happened in the League Cup semi-final at Forth Bank last November when Celtic played Hibs with the kick-of time being 4pm.
But it’s Scottish football and there’s always a but…
Yesterday the timings for the two semi-finals on Sunday 1 May were announced and guess what, Celtic v Hearts will kick off at exactly the same time as Celtic v Rangers in the Scottish Premiership at Celtic Park.
Those running the women’s game should be doing all that they can do develop it and to attract crowds at matches and audiences on television (so that they can sell the next package for decent money).
The countdown to the @Biffa semi-final is ON! Come along to Falkirk stadium on 1st May and see the final four battle for a place in the final at Tynecastle.

The final incidentally – as The Celtic Star exclusively revealed last week – will be held at Tynecastle on Sunday 29 May, should Celtic FC Women win on Sunday we should make a day of it and fill Tynecastle with as many Celtic Supporters as we can.

Here are the highlights from Sunday as Charlie Wellings reached 30 goals for the season and Fran Alonso’s side hit the hundred goals mark.
