Aimee Giles is our Celtic Fan Of The Week on The Celtic Star…

Aimee is only 13 years old and she lives in Coventry where she is a member of the Coventry Emerald CSC. She started supporting Celtic in 2017 when she travelled the 600 mile round trip with her dad and she has been hooked ever since. Aimee started collecting Celtic badges and currently has over 30 including one from the New York CSC that was sent to her from a lovely lady at Dundee CSC.

Asking the questions as ever is The Celtic Star Reporter Scotty Alcroft

What’s your first memory of Celtic?

My first memory of Celtic is from when I was about 7 years old, although my dad assures me that I had Celtic kits from a very young age. We were at home getting ready for a friend’s party and I was talking to my Grandad about all of the Celtic pictures that were in our hall-way. Sadly he is no longer with us but I clearly remember him telling me “you will be a Celtic fan one day” even though at that point I had no interest in football I just wanted to play with my dolls.

What was the first game you went to?

The first game I went to was only last year, I travelled up with my dad on the Coventry Emerald CSC bus. I had a brilliant time and from that point on I was hooked and knew Celtic were the team for me. The game was against Hibs and it was on the 30 September, although it finished 2-2 it was a really exciting match and the atmosphere was amazing.

Who are your top 3 favourite Celtic players and why?

Scotty Sinclair because he is a brilliant winger and is not bad looking at all, my little blondie
Kieran Tierney, love him, love his song and in my opinion I think he’s the best player we’ve got.
I would have selected Paddy Roberts here but unfortunately he didn’t stay at Celtic.

Best game you’ve ever seen involving Celtic in your time?

League cup semi final at Hampden Park again against Hibs and Celtic won 4-2. It was an amazing experience to watch Celtic win in the National stadium.

Worst game you’ve ever seen involving Celtic in your time?

Aberdeen at home on 23 December not because of the result but everything else. It was the first time I had been on the Coventry Emerald LITTLE BUS and I hated it! It was small and cramped for a 6 hour journey made worse by my dad and his friend both leaning on me as they fell asleep. At the ground we tried to get a picture with the away fans but they weren’t very nice and we got moved away by stewards. During the game my dad bought me a bovril and assured me it was nice, it definitely wasn’t! It was the worst thing I’ve ever tasted in my life, it was worse than fish!

Pick your best ever Celtic X1 from what you’ve had the pleasure of witnessing

As I’ve only been going to Celtic Park for a year I can only say the current squad, double treble winners by the way HH.

Give us a funny or surreal moment from your time supporting the Hoops.

Trophy day last season I was in the section with my dad and at the end of the game the girls next to me took me to the very front. When KT took the megaphone the string hit me on the head. I have videos, everything and I have it on my phone, what a day, what a guy!

Give us your assessment on the season just ended?

Double treble winners, mic drop.

If you could choose 3 players from our History that would benefit today’s side, who would they be and why?

My grandad told me about Jinky and Tommy Burns so I will pick them and my dad worships Henrik Larrsson, so it would have to be those three.

Finally, explain to us what Celtic means to you?

Although I’ve only been going for a year I’m in love with the club and the Celtic way of life, I cannot wait for the next game I go to.

Scotty says…

Aimee that was brilliant young Lady. It’s great to see young fans coming through that get Celtic. I remember that Hibs game well and John McGinn was excellent that day. How we got a point was tremendous as he and Hibs were excellent that day. The last year was a great year for you to start coming to Celtic Park. You’ve witnessed history being done. The 3 players that you’ve picked from our history too are probably up there with everyone’s top 3 and that just shows us how much of an influence your dad and grandad have been on you.

Doing that 600 mile round trip from Coventry just to watch Celtic as well shows your commitment and we hope to see you again soon at Celtic Park. HH
