SFA confirm referee for Celtic v Rangers Scottish Cup Final

The SFA have confirmed the appointment of Nick Walsh as the referee for Celtic’s forthcoming Scottish Cup Final against Rangers at Hampden. The experienced referee took charge of Celtic’s 2-1 win over the Ibrox side at Celtic Park in December.

Walsh has been appointed as the referee for the game with Calum Spence and David Roome assisting. Steven McLean will be the man between the dugouts performing Fourth Official duties.

Meanwhile, at Clydesdale House, John Beaton has been appointed as the VAR with David McGeachie assisting. Beaton took charge of the 3-3 game at Ibrox, where VAR was heavily involved. The referee was also the man behind the screen in the defeat at Hearts, which resulted in criticism from Brendan Rodgers.

Celtic have beaten theRangers three times this season and drawn once. However, the Cup Final will be a one-off and the Celts will need to be at their best in order to get their hands on the trophy for a second successive season.

Elsewhere, Willie Collum has been appointed as the SFA’s Head of Refereeing. The veteran whistleblower will retire from refereeing at the end of the season before taking up the role within the SFA.
