The Scottish Football Association will consider whether or not Gordon Strachan can act for both Celtic and Dundee FC after he was confirmed on a three-month deal at Paradise yesterday. The 64-year-old enjoyed a successful four years as Celtic manager but will arrive in a three month advisory capacity to Dom McKay, the club’s new CEO.
According to The Daily Mail, an eight-man committee will determine whether the deal for Strachan breaches the SFA rules of conflict of interest (Article 13). The result may mean that Strachan has to relinquish one of his roles, even if he is not involved with first-team affairs at Celtic. The report also states that the club did not seek clarification from the SFA over the role.
McKay has impressed since replacing Peter Lawwell as Chief Executive and has agreed on a deal for Strachan to oversee a review into the club’s current Academy and Women’s Team setups. Strachan is currently Director of Football at Dundee but the role will not interfere with his commitments to Celtic.
The move will be part of a continued review and revamp of the football club under McKay and Postecoglou. The club are needing to modernise and if they take their time with this operation, they can get the best potential candidates in the door to help meet the needs of the club moving forward.
How can a corrupt body like the SFA make decisions on this. We know the SFA are already conflicted themselves by many decisions they have taken in favour of 1 club.
Another stupid baffling move by CELTIC, of course its a conflict of interest, both teams play in the same league and division. He will also try to influence team matters as his son is one of the first team coaches, totally stupid appointment.
