Shameless Board apologist claims Rodgers is to blame for Celtic unrest

A shameless report has emerged from so-called Celtic insiders claiming that the unrest at the club is down to Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers. The Irishman is in the final year of his contract and this report claims that he could leave sooner than the end of the season.

According to Sun Sport’s exclusive with a ‘Celtic Insider’, Rodgers is said to be engineering his exit from the club.

“Senior figures inside the club believe Rodgers is engineering his exit.

“What he’s said in public has torn the club apart. On and off the record discussions are creating division throughout the club.

“He’s the only manager in the club’s history who has repeatedly questioned things.

“It’s been the same board, same management and same strategy.

“The club have spent tens of millions.

“When Brendan came back, he agreed to the club’s strategy.

“There are now people inside the club who are deeply unhappy with his words.

“To make matters worse, these issues appear to be seeping into the performance of the team. It’s like Groundhog Day again.”

The reality is that Rodgers has been discussing the club’s need to strengthen since January in order to achieve the club’s ambitions. The manager has stated in countless occasions that he wanted quality into the club but this has not been realised this summer with Kieran Tierney the only standout addition.

Celtic had a net profit of £13.5m and failed to bring a number of suspected targets into the club, including Kasper Dolberg. Rodgers required to call upon his connection with Kelechi Iheanacho in order to bring a replacement in for Adam Idah, which still left Celtic a striker short.

In previous years Ange Postecoglou urged the club to be proactive in the market and ensure that the club continued cycles of success. The Australian manager’s comments have been echoed by Rodgers at various junctures since returning to the club but he has always been clear that he loves working at the club, even if his ambition has not been matched.

The comments about cycles rings true after Daizen’s comments that he wanted to leave in the summer but wasn’t allowed to. Celtic should do their business, get a replacement in the door prior to a move being sanctioned. The right back succession planning from Josip Juranovic to Alistair Johnston highlights that it can be done but Celtic have fallen away from this form of planning.

  1. I believe this 100%!
Rodgers is very good at pointing fingers.
It just needs a look back to his last stint when he played these exact same games!
The difference this time is that he knows he got away with the fact that he walked away once! This time he’s trying to throw the board under the bus!
I seriously don’t trust him anymore.

    • Really don’t know what to believe anymore, about this shameless carry-on there is possibly a power struggle going on at Celtic just now.i wish all parties involved would realise that there are thousands, who have spent hard earned money purchasing ST and continually buy merchandise.Get your act together sort it out once and for all,and get back to winning trophies and make supporters all around the world proud to be followers of Glasgow Celtic HH

  2. Let’s hope. Team looks uninspired and flat just like they were last time right before he fled.
Rodgers style is so boring and virtually unwatchable, he can’t marshall his multi million pound players to beat a minnow in the CL qualifiers or a weaker than usual Sevco.

How are there even a handful of fans that think this guy is at a level higher than managing East Fife?

His idea of managing is keep possession. Problem is he buys identical midfielders and lots of them.
Cal Mac, Hatate, Engles, McGowan all totally inter changeable. No enforcer to break up play and put fear in opponents. No one to beat a couple of men to force our way through a defence. No one with a killer pass that can open up teams, so we pass all the way back to put our keeper under unnecessary pressure.
Defenders are an afterthought altogether. If CCV is so great then why has he been here so long with no offers from big clubs? Because he is bad in the air, gets turned too easily and is too slow for the modern game, yet he is far and away our number one central defender.

Honestly, I don’t believe any Celtic team this century wouldn’t smash this team, even Mobray has more of a strategy.

Rodgers couldn’t win with a Liverpool team that was packed full of world class players, got Leicester relegated, blew 10 in a row before Christmas and then engineered a way to escape the ship he sank before he would be held accountable.
Why does this dud get spoken of as if he is a top manager? He is clueless.
He has a career only because the Sevco board are more inept than ours and keep buying players no English Championship team wants. Honestly we could pull a different fan from the crowd at random before each match to be manager for a day and we would see a better quality of footballing ideas and play than we see under this great pretender.

Who pushed to over pay for Idah, Engles and Trusty? Was it the scouting team or Rogers himself?

The only way I can believe someone saying Rodgers is world class, is if they are Seevco fans because as long as he is in charge they have a chance of catching us, if they work out how to get wins from Motherwell and St Mirren games.

    • Not much to disagree with what you’ve said other than CCV being the best defender we have. Scales and Trusty seem to be coming on with big improvements in their game. Scales recently and Trusty pre-season, both are starting to show real promise. Scales needs to quit grabbing and holding opposition players or he’s going to cost us big time, and probably in a key game against that lot.

Totally agree with your take on Rodgers, if i had my way he wouldn’t have been invited back. It doesn’t take much to look good in Scotland and he was found out while down-south. And, as you say, against possibly the Champions League’s poorest team.

Having said that, we must not let those responsible for running the club away with their part in all of this. In some respects they are far more at fault than Rodgers. And they have a major communications problem with the fanbase, the clubs lifeblood. Without us there is no Celtic. Informing media outlets far more than they inform the fanbase is not only arrogant but is a very poor way to run any business. And stop publicly announcing who we’re trying to sign. Every other club now sees this negative image we are creating for ourselves. A sure recipe for failure, on every level. Mind you, the media are very much responsible for the shite and speculation. And some of the so-called Celtic blogs have played a part in repeating that shite and speculation too.

Neglect your customers, say goodbye to any success.

    • Nail on the head Dan. He’s an absolute fraud, I’m glad at least some fans are waking up to the fact. He knew the deal, yet he’s spent all summer digging out the board , really slyly into the bargain. Additionally, the narrative around not replacing Kyogo is bogus, Rodgers ruined him, he was a man down when he was in the team. I’d hate to be a centre forward in that team, Gerd Muller would struggle. My guess is he stays the season, think the league will be closer than people imagine

BR had nothing to do with the failure to win 10 in a row. Neil Lennon was in charge from February 2019 to February 2021.

    • ‘get back to winning trophies’ we have been and will do this season. We will also do ok in the Europa – The negativity surrounding Celtic from support and outwith just bonkers. You would have thought Celtic have not won the league the last 4 season or currently top and unbeaten in the league this season.

  4. This clubsoves nothing more than grasping us, the fans and us fans love nothing more than continually bending over for them to do so. I stopped renewing my ticket in 2018.
A former player coming out and speaking highly of the fans or a top player highly of the club is enough for fans to forget about how bad the club is ran, has been run. Most gullible support I’ve ever come across. 100 million of our money in the bank and won’t invest in the team? What the collecting that up for? Don’t worry though you’ll get a few flashing LEDs prior to kick off and a nice footpath outside the ground.

  5. Rogers has made many mistakes but for some “celtic insider to put all the blame at his door is cowardly and shameful. Our board are an absolute disgrace full of self serving dinosaurs. Bet the “celtic insider” is Nicholson or lawell.

  6. He has to shoulder some of the blame.. DD stated BR has or had control of players that come on BR has also confirmed this… like his first spell a lot of his signings been average or poor. BR keeps on stating he like to develop players where is the evidence of that since he cam back it has been limited.

Celtic wont sack him and he wont walk away – do I expect BR to be manager next season? Not really though if he stays I would except that.

Marco Rose will be our next manager if BR and Celtic part ways come the end of the season

  8. As the old saying goes .if nothing changes .nothing changes .same old board doing the same old things blaming the same old people but let’s face it brendan has his finger prints on the murder weapon to not just the board there is two sides to every story please everyone remember this
