Brendan Rodgers has resigned as Celtic manager in a shock move. The Scottish Champions confirmed the news in an update late on Monday afternoon. Yesterday, Celtic lost 3-1 at Tynecastle in a result that saw Hearts go eight points clear. It was clear that Rodgers was not happy with the club’s hierarchy and appears to have decided that he can no longer work under these conditions.
In a statement, Celtic thanked Rodgers for his efforts across two spells and revealed that Martin O’Neill and Shaun Maloney will take interim charge while the club search for a permanent replacement.
“Celtic Football Club can confirm that football manager Brendan Rodgers has today tendered his resignation. It has been accepted by the Club and Brendan will leave his role with immediate effect.
“The Club appreciates Brendan’s contribution to Celtic during his two very successful periods at the Club.
“Brendan leaves Celtic with our thanks for the role he has played during a period of continued success for the Club and we wish him further success in the future.
“The process to appoint a new permanent manager is underway and the Club will update supporters further on this as soon as possible.
“We are pleased that during this interim period former Celtic manager, Martin O’Neill and former Celtic player, Shaun Maloney have agreed to take charge of Celtic first-team matters. Further details will be confirmed shortly.”

It was clear that Rodgers felt that his position was untenable, especially given that he has not been offered a new deal. It felt inevitable that the club and the Irishman would part ways at the end of the season and this seems like a sensible decision from all parties.
Rodgers leaves a Celtic legend, having won an incredible amount across both spells. The former Liverpool manager has won four league titles, three Scottish Cups and four League Cups as well as reaching the knockout stages of the UEFA Champions League. There was a feeling that the club not backing Rodgers in the summer was indicative of their view on a new deal and that was poorly received by the manager.
All the very best Brendan. Once a Celt, always a Celt.

He had the biggest budget in the league and knocked the spirit out of the team. Never progressed anyone and spat the dummy out when he never got another £30 to squander and leave on the bench. Fkm and his shit football

I for one would never believe a word that Dermot Desmond says.
Desmond and his band of merry men have let the fans down time after time and the latest transfer window is evidence of that.
He claims to have sat down with Brendan to discuss a new contract but the fans are all aware that he would have signed on his previously stated terms that Dermot wouldn’t agree to .
He also refused to name the insider who squeezed on Brendan to the Sun.
Once again the Board think the fans heads zip up the back.
My message to Dermot is “sack the board or sell up” we don’t want you here at Celtic
If big Ange gets the gig then i hope he makes it clear that he, and he alone, will use his own scouting system to identify players, just like he did the first time around. If he’s appointed i think we could now win this league.
That being said, there has to be wholesale changes. Certain members of the board and “the executive team” need to be removed. We will not progress anything if these parasites are kept in place with any kind of influence.
