Shved Makes Way in Euro Squad as Lennon Explains Absence

Neil Lennon has explained why Marian Shved has struggled thus far to break his way into the Celtic starting XI. The Ukrainian winger arrived this summer after agreeing a switch from Karpaty Lviv back in January during Brendan Rodgers’ last transfer window – but Shved has failed to find inroads into Lennon’s side.

Lennon confirmed that Shved would be the one to miss out from Celtic’s Europa League squad ahead of the Last 32 clash versus Copenhagen. Jeremie Frimpong, Patryk Klimala and Ismalia Soro were all added to the squad list submitted by Celtic to UEFA earlier in the week and with Lewis Morgan and Scott Sinclair leaving the club, there was only one player to miss out.

Despite having impressed in Dubai, Lennon explained the absence of the 22-year-old and how he has struggled to adapt since arriving in Scotland.

“He’s found it difficult, he struggles with the English and in training at times he’s not at the level the rest of them are.

“He’s still a very talented player, but he’s still taking a bit more time to adapt and acclimatise than maybe some others would.”

It will be interesting to see whether Shved plays a part later on in the campaign due to the length of Mikey Johnston’s absence – which explains the reason that the manager wasn’t keen to send the player out on loan.
