So what? Sky ended up with egg on their faces, but it came from an ITK rumour

MAYBE it’s just me but I’m finding to hard to be too annoyed about the fact that Sky Sports ended up with egg on their faces yesterday. They clearly were not expecting Livingston to beat Rangers and that ‘surprise’ result meant that their decision to pick up on a story that had been doing the rounds – started by the ITK Celts – backfired spectacularly. Good!

There was that tweet in the summer saying that Brendan should be sacked. Then there were the various references to China at the start of last week as that story about Brendan’s job offer in the summer was about to break or was being broken. We can’t really complain too much about the media kicking Celtic when some of our own seem happy to do it ourselves. But it’s all out in the open now – so it’s time to move on.

Whatever happened, Brendan was there at McDiarmid Park and was saying that he is committed to Celtic for the duration of his contract, so two more years after this one. Rodgers is, in my view, the best thing that’s happened to Celtic since Henrik and there’s a bit about him at the end of this article.

The fact that Rodgers might have potential suitors can hardly come as a surprise to anyone. These conversations go on in the game all the time and the money that was allegedly on offer from China was mind-blowing. Rodgers could clearly earn more money elsewhere and we remain very lucky to have him at Celtic.

You could understand it if supporters of other clubs in Scotland were happy to spread gossip and petty wee stories to try to unsettle a manager who has won 6 trophies in a row in the Scottish game. It is harder to understand why any Celtic supporters wants to indulge in this stuff.

The Celts from the South blog has a decent feature on this today – see HERE.

It gets picked up, added to, bent to suit other agendas – see above, especially anti-Celtic ones and we’re left with conclusions that Brendan is for the off as soon as he can get something sorted and Davie Moyes will be the new manager – complete B/S. Sky pick this up for a new story and it blows up in their faces – tough luck.

Didn’t BT Sport have their own version of Celtic in Crisis last week too, complete with specially prepared graphics? If you win 6 trophies in a row and are chasing 8 in a row, it is going to be covered in the media if you start to slip.

The Celtic Supporters Association today has called for unity among the support – see HERE. You have to agree with them. It’s time to put what happened in the summer behind us and get on with the challenges ahead, starting on Thursday in Austria.

Oh and the little item on Henrik, this is a great read…
