CELTIC SUPPORTERS were concerned when the team sheet was published on Saturday and Odsonne Edouard was on the bench. Speculation about the Frenchman’s future has been rife for a while with news of a new contract and reported suitors eyeing him up doing the rounds. However, Sky Sport’s Anthony Joseph has predicted that Edouard will be a Celtic player when the window closes on October 5 saying he would be ‘very surprised’ if he left the club.
I'd be very surprised if Edouard goes… unless someone throws silly money at Celtic in the next couple of weeks. Very few clubs spending big in the grand scheme of things.

The rationale behind Edouard staying is that there has not been a lot of big fees being thrown about this transfer window. The Frenchman was in incredible form last season, scoring 28 goals and notching 12 assists in 45 appearances in all competitions as Celtic steamed towards matching Jock Stein’s 1974 record. Now, with a new deal behind him he can be the man to fire us to 10IAR.
Celtic should hold out for at least £40m after this season. Edouard is too important to sell and the club should prioritise giving him a new contract to protect their asset.
